Updated Wake-On-WAN for LANDesk Release

We've made a new build of Wake-On-WAN for LANDesk available for download. This latest build fixes a few issues when creating scheduled wake-up or shutdown jobs where the WoW console is being used by an operator in a different timezone to the core server. We have also added better handling of large numbers of target systems and timeout handlng for nn-response systms.

Please upgrade to this latest version for the best funcionality.

Welcome to the New Year

Happy New Year to everyone. We had a great year last year as we launched into the market with some great utilities and the professional version of Wake-On-WAN for LANDesk. We hope all of you that invested in this product are reaping the benefits.

We have a lot in store for you this year. We are working on the professional version of Power State Notifier and expect to have something released this month. Watch this space for more details and screenshots!

MarXtar Wake-On-WAN LANDesk 8.7 Support

A quick update for those of you using LANDesk 8.7. this latest version has been fully tested against LANDesk 8.7 and we have identified and resolved the issue we were encountering on some systems.

Please download and make use of this updated version.

New MarXtar Wake-On-WAN for LANDesk Released

We are pleased to announce the launch of the new MarXtar Wake-On-WAN for LANDesk. In this version we have responded to the large numbers of you that requested enhancements including:

• Use Wake-On-WAN with Scheduled Tasks
• Perform Scheduled Wake-Up and Shut Down
• Only use Windows Machines as Wake-On-WAN Reps
• Automatically make use of Multicast Representatives and Preferred Package Servers
• Greater Logging
• New Broadcast WoL facility

The new version is the Professional Edition and carries a new per console license model. The original Wake-On-WAN functionality is still free and includes the feature fixes listed above.

Wake-On-WAN and LDMS 8.7

We've had a few reports that the WoL executable is not being launched when Wake-On-WAN is installed on some LANDesk 8.7 systems. We are investigating and hope to have a fix shortly. Sorry for any inconvenience.

.Net 3.5 on LANDesk Core

We've had a few questions from people who are not keen to install .Net 3.5 on their LANDesk Core Server. The important thing to note about this is that .Net 3.5 still configures version 2.0 for the ASP.Net components so LANDesk just isn't affected and LANDesk cores work without issue.

If LANDesk support tell you 3.5 isn't supported, remember this just means it has not gone through their official testing, not that it causes issues. If they can point to specific issues caused by the presence of 3.5 (which they should be able to if they exist since they are the central repository of all issues) then please tell us.

Of the 200+ people that have downloaded our products we have not had a single report of a .Net3.5 related issues.
